Back in secondary school, it  occurred to me that being a teacher would be a possible career option. Then I went to poly, and shrugged off that belief. Now that I’m a relief teacher, it’s become a worthy consideration again. Let us look at 7 reasons why:

1) If I get the slackest combination of PE + CPA (computing applications), I would get quite a fair bit of free time. There won’t be much marking or lesson planning — stuff that are really demanding.

2) Being a PE teacher would let me go to school in shorts and tees everyday. How cool is that?

3) I would get to enjoy school holidays just like the students. That’s free time to travel.

4) I’ll get lots of time to pursue other interests. Say photography or my culinary aspirations.

5) I get to play a part in moulding the future of our nation.

6) It is supposedly quite rewarding to be able to the touch the lives of others.

7) A relatively decent pay.

Ahh well, I still have 6 friggin’ years to consider. Dammit.

i guess CPA would depends if the sch you’re posted to offers this subj. but PE definitely is an elective (of some sort).

    2) Being a PE teacher would let me go to school in shorts and tees everyday. How cool is that?

    3) I would get to enjoy school holidays just like the students. That’s free time to travel.

that’s one of the best things about teaching. BUT
i heard from my teachers that you may be called back for some planning or hols events. and there’s upgrading courses and whatsnot.

    4) I’ll get lots of time to pursue other interests. Say photography or my culinary aspirations.

that’s if you get your 1)

    5) I get to play a part in moulding the future of our nation.
